Although I have reservations about the product, I received excellent service from Gesswein, next day shipping, and a very competetive price -- well done.
I have used the 44T handpiece with the Foredom SR 1/6 hp motor and flexshaft along with Flexcut woodcarving gouges.
For carving hardwoods, this setup is clearly underpowered. Only take very light or shallow cuts are possible without the motor bogging down. When carving softwoods, the performance is better, but not great. Using the TX series of 1/3 hp motors would probably give better results.
However. the handpiece and the flexshaft near the handpiece get uncomfortably hot after only a few minutes of carving. With the more powerful motor and I think it would get even hotter, faster. On the plus side, with very sharp tools the control is good and results are quite good. Overall, I would recommend the handpiece for light, intermittent carving so that the handpiece can cool off, which it will after about 5 minutes.
